Sylvia is returning home, by obligation, for a flying visit. Anya, her mother, is dying and her sister Ray is Anya’s main carer. The atmosphere in the house, already fraught with years’ worth of bitterness and miscommunication, is further intensified by the well-meaning arrival of Ray’s best friend Callum, who has known both sisters since school. The play buzzes with anger and missed opportunities, but also with dark comedy and the deep, desperate love of people who cannot seem to be in the same place at the time.
A Midsummer Night's Dream
Join Puck, Titania, Oberon and the lovers as they wander deep into the magical forests of Athens. Throw in Bottom and his rude mechanicals and you’re sure to have a recipe of misguided love, magical potions, fairies galore and the odd donkey for good measure! Shakespeare’s classic comedy brought to life in magical outside venues across Brighton and Hove this summer.
The Twits
Roll up! Roll up! They’re shocking! They’re smelly! They’re stupefyingly stupid! Get ready to meet the despicable, Mr & Mrs Twit!
Come and see if the magnificent, heroic Roly-Poly bird and clever Muggle-Wump monkeys can scupper The Twits’ treacherous trickery. With a circus style setting, this childhood favourite promises pure slap-stick family fun.
David Woods’ adapts Roald Dahl’s classic.
More Grimm Tales
In a follow up to our 2018 production of Grimm Tales we present more weird and wonderful stories from the Brothers Grimm: Rapunzel, The Frog Prince, The Pied Piper of Hamelin, Hans-my-Hedgehog, The Donkey Cabbage, and others.
Full of deliciously dark turns and twists, the tales come to life in all their glittering, macabre brilliance—a delight for children and adults alike!
New@TheLittle: A Visit from Miss Prothero and Afterplay
A double-bill of two one act plays from new directors at the Little.
A Visit from Miss Prothero
A comic gem from Alan Bennett. Mr Dodgson is wholly happy in his retirement. But he does not count on a visit from Miss Prothero, the office busybody from his old employer.
Afterplay
In this follow up to Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya and Three Sisters, Sonya and Andrey meet in a Moscow café and exchange stories, twenty years after we last encountered them in each of Chekhov’s plays. Each weaves a fantasy tale of what life might have been.
A Coward Coupling: Family Album & Hands Across the Sea
A double-bill of two madcap and riotously funny Noël Coward short comedies.
Family Album – Just back from their father's funeral, the Featherway children cannot pull long faces nor feign regret. The last one to break into laughter is pious Lavinia, father's companion until his death.
Hands Across the Sea - Lady Gilpin (Piggie) is so busy with social duties and gossip that she has no time for coherent thinking. She is set aflutter when her drawing room is suddenly filled with her husband's naval conferees, blueprint delivery girls and Mr. and Mrs. Wadhurst from the Far East.
