She Stoops to Conquer
Oliver Goldsmith's uproariously funny play, She Stoops to Conquer, was first performed in London in 1773. Wealthy countryman, Mr. Hardcastle plans to marry his lovely daughter, Kate, to Marlow, son of a wealthy Londoner. Marlow, along with his sidekick Hastings, duly makes a visit to view his future bride. Fun loving Tony Lumpkin, Kate's stepbrother, waylays them and sends them on a wild goose chase. They arrive at Hardcastle's place thinking it to be a local inn. Confusion reigns supreme! Enjoy many laughs in this late 18th century comedy of errors.
